Nong Khiaw Adventures 3 days 2 nights package is a perfect rural escape just a 3.5 hours north-east of Luang Prabang. Itinerary:

DAY 1 LUANG PRABANG - BAN NAYANG - NONG KHIAW

your journey about 2.5 hours to Ban Nayang, a Tai Lue village at the edge of rice paddy field. Your journey by vehicle passing through the lush green rain forest, you will arrive in the afternoon. After settled in a home stay, you will walk with your guide around the village to see local people’s way of life and working in front of their house. You will have an opportunity to interact with them to learn more about their culture. After your lunch at a local family, continue your trip towards Nong Khiaw. This afternoon visit the historical cave of Phathok. The Nong Khiaw villagers used this cave as a war shelter during the "Secret War" to shelter people from bombs dropped in the region. It is about 30 minutes' walk from Nong Khiaw town and follows beautiful scenery and great vistas in the surrounding tropical mountains. You will learn more about a secret part of the Lao history and explore the historical caves with your guide. From the cave you will have a beautiful view of rice paddies and the surrounding valley. Return to your hotel, enjoy the sunset over the river. Lunch included.

DAY 2 NONG KHIAW - MUANG NGOI - NONG KHIAW

This morning you will board a slow boat for a trip up the Nam Ou River. Travel up the tranquil river, flanked by mountains and small villages, until you reach Muang Ngoi, a quaint village nestled in the foothills of giant limestone karsts. The town is only accessible by boat and has only one main street that remains unpaved. Visit the village and walk to nearby caves, Tham Kang before enjoying a picnic lunch at a local restaurant. After lunch, cruise upstream to Ban Sop Cham, a textile weaving village before cruise back to Nong Khiaw. At Ban Sop Kong, you will make a stop and visit Tad Mok waterfall on foot. Swim in the cool river or purchase a drink at a nearby cafe before cruise back to Nong Khiaw. In the late afternoon enjoy free time to enjoy the idyllic river scenery as the Nam Ou flows idly past this stunning riverside town. Lunch included.

DAY 3 NONG KHIAW - LUANG PRABANG

Rise early this morning for a short trek to Phou Pha Daeng mountain top for Sunrise and panoramic view of Nong Khiaw town and its surroundings. After breakfast, you will travel to Luang Prabang by vehicle. On the way back to Luang Prabang, take ferry across the Mekong to visit the mysterious Pak Ou Caves. Locally referred to as Tam Ting, these two caves are carved out of towering limestone cliffs and contain thousands of gold lacquered Buddha statues. Continue to Luang Prabang by vehicle.
